Private Christmas Parties and Dinners at 42...

Last weekend we hosted out very first private Christmas party of the season, and what an event it was! The guests were the winners of our Leeds-list.com competition on Twitter, and we were so excited to welcome them. There was a feeling of excitement in the air, as all of us were keen to share the menu our culinary team have been working on for months now.

Needless to say, the party was a roaring success with many compliments paid to the food, drink and general atmosphere. This party, like the others we have scheduled, took place in the private River Room, which looks over the Aire and is especially pretty at night.

We’ve been getting well into the Christmas spirit and have decided to add a few little extras to our private parties. All of those who attend will now get a glass of warm, comforting mulled wine or some Prosecco to start things off. We’re also offering an overnight stay in one of our luxury rooms for the organiser, which we imagine might come in handy if you’re planning to celebrate with quite a lot of bubbly!

The Christmas Tree is Coming!

We’re all getting very excited here as we anticipate the arrival of our Christmas tree, which will be going up on Tuesday. We really can’t wait for it to be here, because for us, it means the season to be jolly has well and truly began. The tree will definitely be filled with decorations, as we are all very keen to put our own stamp on it. Our Christmas team will also be decking the halls and filling each and every corner with tinsel, holly and festive spirit.

We feel like a mum on Christmas day, because we’ve been in and out of the kitchen trying out the food that will be going on to the Christmas menus all week. So, as you might imagine, we’re all really looking forward to our first guests coming and trying it for themselves. We’ve got to recommend the jam jar strawberry sundae – which we must admit, we’ve been “testing” quite extensively!

On Sunday, the winner of our Twitter competition will be here with nine of his friends to try out the private Christmas menu. We hope they like it!

Mulled Wine and Mince Pies at 42 this Weekend

We’re feeling a bit like Father Christmas here at 42 this week as we’ve got loads of lovely gifts to give away. Well, they won’t be wrapped or delivered down the chimney as they are actually mince pies and glasses of mulled wine. So, if you visit us this weekend you'll get a little early Christmas present!

We’ll have to resist temptation when all of the warm, homemade mince pies are laid out. We have been lucky enough to try one or two for ourselves and know for certain that they are delicious. The mulled wine will be warm too, and we imagine it will be very popular considering how cold it is getting outside.

Our hotel has lots of cosy places to sit and enjoy the treats, and you’ll be welcomed to have a little look around while you are here if you want.

Introducing... The Official 42 the Calls Blog

So here it is – our blog. We’ve been thinking about the best thing to write for ages, but for some reason that perfect first line that effortlessly mixes comedy and wisdom just won’t come to us.

We made this blog because we want you to know that we are here and keen to talk to all of you. We’ll be writing here to tell you all about the most exciting stuff going on at the hotel, events in Leeds that we think are worth mentioning, and our team here at 42 the Calls.

So, whether we fancy having a chat about our Yorkshire-farmed sausages, or just want to tell you where we’ve been doing our Christmas shopping – we’ll have a place to do it. Along the way, you’ll get some tips about the best things to do and eat in Leeds, and learn a bit more about life at 42.
